Herbert Edward Arntson (1911-1982) was an American educator and writer of historical fiction for young people, much of which was set in the Pacific Northwest in the mid-1800s. Born in Tacoma, Washington, Arntson taught English at the high school and college levels and was head of the creative writing program at Washington State University for 28 years.
