Elbert and Doris Botts discuss their experiences working in textile mills, including machinery, the different jobs they worked, training, working conditions, technological changes, an incident of violence in the mill, labor-management relations, unions, and race relations in the mill. They also share family stories and talk about the making of the movie The Phenix City Story, in which Mr. Botts briefly appears.

Elbert and Doris Botts worked in the Eagle and Phenix Mill from 1946 to 1952 and then went to West Point Pepperell, where they worked until their retirement in 1992. Elbert started out working in the finishing department, and later moved to loom fixer, instructor, and machine auditor. Doris was a battery hand in the weave room.
