This collection documents the functions and interactions the Massachusetts Society of Colonial Wars had with its members and other branches of the Society. The Society of Colonial Wars was established in 1892 for the purpose of honoring and preserving the memory of men who protected the American colonies between 1607 and 1775 through military means or civil service. In 1893, the Massachusetts branch of the Society was formed in Boston. Among the Society's activities were obtaining genealogies from its members, collecting and preserving records and artifacts from the Colonial period, and establishing memorials. Records include correspondence, membership lists, invitations, and programs.
