Huntsville log book, 1843-1844.

This log book records three voyages of the Huntsville between New York and New Orleans under Edward Cornell, master, between September 16, 1843, and June 25, 1844. It was carefully kept by the mate noting the setting of sails, vessels seen, winds, weather, etc., with a full harbor journal at New Orleans that gives a daily account of cargo discharged and loaded. The primary difficulty experienced in these three voyages was the continuous desertion of seamen at New Orleans.
