Two autographed items from the French Archives, 1740-1768 [photocopies].

Portion of an edict of the king concerning rights required on coastal lands for construction of vessels, fortifications and other public works, dated March 1, 1740; fragment dated August 4, 1768 with the signatures of Du Pont de Nemours and others. The signatures of Du Pont de Nemours must have been added subsequent to 1768, as he did not style himself in that manner until the Revolution.
