The Hampton F. Shirer collection documents his contributions to the design and construction of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. Included are clippings, photographs, correspondence, and architectural plans. The correspondence is between Hampton F. Shirer, a Topeka artist and member of the Kansas Book Co., Inc., and Eugene F. Kennedy of Maginnis and Walsh and Kennedy architectural firm. The correspondence discusses Shirer's draft drawings pertaining to the shrine, as well as requests that Shirer work on the tile for the dome. Progress reports on the shrine's construction are included as well.

Hampton F. Shirer was an artist from Topeka. He was born in 1894 and died in 1977. He assisted Eugene F.
