P. J. Jennings collection, 1865 - 1927

The collection consists of materials written by P. J. Jennings, a resident of McCracken, Rush County; and by other Kansas individuals. It includes diaries from Dr. Louis and his nephew H.G. Watson from the 1870s-1890s, who were located in Ellis and Rush Counties; correspondence from Dr. Louis Watson, 1865-1875; Dr. Watson's meteorological books for the 1880s through 1891; a circa 1870 account book for the Western Kansas Agricultural Association, kept by Dr. Watson; a 1927 set of reminiscences on early pioneers of Rush County written by Jennings; and some other miscellaneous materials. The Watsons came from Quincy, Illinois; many of the pioneers Jennings discusses came from Pennsylvania and were of German stock.
