Samuel Williamson, 1795-1882, was the second president of Davidson College serving from 1841 to 1854. He came to Davidson in 1839, joining the faculty as a professor of mathematics and natural philosophy. While president Williamson also taught classes in chemistry, geology, physics, logic, metaphysics, law, political economy and moral philosophy.
