The Distaff Club was founded in 1943 and was first known as the Quadranglers Wives Club. The purpose of the club was to aid the president and the administration of Davidson College and to promote the social life of the campus. Membership into the club was initially limited to wives of members of the Quadranglers Club or anyone acting as a hostess for a faculty member. By 1977, membership was open to any women working for the college as well as to those women married to Davidson faculty or staff....
