In 1901 Michigan Mining School (now Michigan Technological University) in Houghton, Michigan received funding for two additional buildings. The Civil and Mining Engineering Building, was built at a cost of $28,880, was a two-story hip-roofed structure with a five-story tower centered on the front. The brick building had a high sandstone basement and a number of round-arched windows, adding to the Italian Renaissance Revival feel. In 1925, an addition was added to the building.
