Petitions (Folders 106-116), financial documents, and official correspondence (Folders 102-105) to the Grand-duke Ferdinando I de' Medici written by a large number of individuals (including ambassadors, members of the Medici family, government officials, merchants, and farmers), covering a very wide range of topics (taxation and tax collection in the Grand Duchy; coinage and mint operations; issues in public finance; diplomatic relations with the Holy Roman Empire; grain, iron, textile, and slave trades; controversies related to navigation in the Mediterranean Sea; and concessions and privileges granted to the Jews, especially to the Jewish community of Livorno). Two oversize accounts for miscellaneous expenses dated 1606 and 1607 are stored separately (Folder 516).
