A.W. Newberry photograph album, 1915.

In 1915, A.W. Newberry, a world traveler seeking mining investments, made a mining investor's trip to Alaska and Yukon Territories, from May to December 1915. Newberry collected and possibly took the photographs during his trip, with subjects ranging from mining operations, scenic views over both land and taken from the water and visits to local residences. Notable images include views of Tanana, the village and the chapel, from the river; scenes from a placer mining operation near Eureka Creek; a swim party in Chena Slough; views of the Alaska-Gastineau Mill from the water; and photographs of the sternwheeler Tanana on a river and of the ship Mariposa at the Skagway Wharf. There are also scenic photographs of glaciers, moraines and the Canadian Klondike Lodge.
