Papers from the Carr, Heron, and Morse families, who settled in Chicago during the 1850s. Boxes 1-2 contain materials related to the Carr family, particularly Dr. Jonathan Carr, a physician, and Camillo Casatti Cadmus Carr, a military officer who served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and in Kansas. Materials include genealogy papers, correspondence, property appraisals, legal documents, ledgers, and invoices. Boxes 2-4 contain personal business items of Lester Heron, including real estate information, correspondence, insurance papers, stocks and investments, receipts, and household invoices. Boxes 4 and 5 include genealogy materials, newspaper clippings, and correspondence related to Phoebe Morse, a Chicago school teacher in the 1930s. Also included are materials from her high school and college education. Box 6 contains two scrapbooks consisting of newspaper clippings about the Carr, Heron, and Morse families. Oversize folders include certificates, such as one from the Chicago Astronomical Society illustrated with an image of a telescope.
