Oral history interview with L. John Van Til, 1990.

Van Til discusses his work for J. Howard Pew writing about the Westminster Assembly, the Protestant Reformation, and the American Revolution; writing speeches for Pew; and working with the Presbyterian Layman. He also recalls living with his family on Pew's estate in Ardmore, Pennsylvania during this period, 1968-1971. He also discusses how he came to be on the faculty of Grove City College.

A private trust company and successor to the Pew Memorial Foundation, the Glenmede Trust Company was chartered in 1956 to administer three Pew family trusts. By the mid-1980s Glenmede's dual identity, as both for-profit financial management company and not-for-profit philanthropic institution, proved unwieldy. Van Til grew-up in the Dutch Reformed community of western Michigan. He took his bachelor's degree from Calvin College and his doctoral degree in the philosophy of history from Michigan State University.
