Personal papers and memorabilia of Helen Hall Upham, concert singer, and Frederic W. Upham, Chicago (Ill.) businessman and politician. Helen Hall Upham's materials include correspondence (1903-1968), programs (1896-1906), a scrapbook, and certificates. The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings (1900-1904) about her concert performances and philanthropic activities and also about her 1904 marriage to Frederic Upham. Also in the collection: a certificate signed by Calvin Coolidge appointing Helen Hall Upham to be a U.S. representative at the 1927 International Exposition at Sevilla, Spain, and a certificate signed by Herbert Hoover appointing Upham to the Board of Advisors to the Federal Industrial Institution for Women, 1929. Frederic W. Upham's materials include correspondence (1908-1924), a scrapbook of newspaper clippings (ca. 1908-1923) concerning Upham's career and Republican Party activities, tributes (in booklets) from various Chicago organizations, such as the Hamilton Club, the Chicago Athletic Association. The correspondence includes letters from Calvin Coolidge, William Howard Taft, William Wrigley, Theodore Roosevelt, and other prominent figures.
