John Church Hamilton notebook , 1809-1842.

This notebook is a tete-beche, with texts beginning at both the front and back covers rotated 180 degrees from one another. Hamilton made entries in the front section of the notebook while studying law between 1809 and 1813. In the back section, he made entries related to the settlement of the estate of Isaac de Reimer, including an account of expenditures in 1814, receipts for payments to de Reimer's heirs between 1820 and 1842, and genealogical notes on the de Reimer family. Spine title reads: "Law notes, accounts, etc."

John Church Hamilton (1792-1882), son of the first Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, Alexander Hamilton, was a lawyer who devoted much of his life to writing a multi-volume biography of his father. ...
