Three page autograph letter, signed from "R. Murray" to California senator John Franklin Miller, dated Governors Island, N.Y., November 10, 1883. In the letter Murray campaigns for an unspecified government appointment, pointing out that associates of his have met with the President, and that the only obstacle to his appointment seems to be his age. Murray states that he is "as capable of work now as I ever was in my life..."
