The materials from the Snell family mostly consist of letters, postcards, and other documents from Mabel Lovejoy Snell and speeches from her son Joseph W. Snell. The letters from Mabel include 1951 correspondence about the Topeka flood and 1958 correspondence to her son Joseph when he was hospitalized at the State Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Norton. The speeches from Joseph were given before the Western History Association (WHA), American Association of State and Local History (AASLH), Women's Federated Clubs, and other organizations and were on historical topics ranging from the Civil War to cow towns to Kansas City. Also in the collection is Joseph Snell's driver's license and various other materials from the two family members.
