The collection consists of concept and engineering drawings, renderings, photographs, correspondence, and artwork. There are four series: Student Work series, 1909-1928; Design Projects series, 1928-1973; Art Work series, 1930-1973; and Virgil Exner, Jr. series, 1940-1959. The Design Projects series includes the following subseries: Advertising Artists subseries, 1928-1934; Raymond Loewy subseries, 1938-1972; Chrysler subseries, 1940-1961; and Virgil Exner, Inc. subseries, 1961-1973.
