Nicolin J. Plank Gray was born in Yakima, Washington in 1921 and joined the Whitworth College faculty in 1952. Her 28 years of teaching a variety of biology classes gave her the opportunity to integrate her Christian faith with the subjects she loved. She was a mentor to women in science. Dr. Alfred Orrin Gray taught journalism at Whitworth College from 1946 until his retirement in 1980.
