Papers of Gustav Bergmann, 1923-1991.

Correspondence, lecture notes, manuscripts of writings, photographs, and publications from Bergmann's career as a professor of philosophy. The manuscripts of writings include notes for and drafts of two of his books, Realism: a critique of Brentano and Meinong, 1967, and New foundations of ontology, 1992, the latter edited for publication by William Heald. Lecture notes are for his classes at the University of Iowa and for lectures in the United States and Sweden. Philosophers discussed include Franz Brentano, Kurt Gödel, and Ludwig Wittgenstein. Correspondents include May Brodbeck, Herbert Feigl, John von Neumann, and Marguerite Young.
