John Tinney McCutcheon (1870-1949) was a newspaper cartoonist and war correspondent. Born in Lafayette, Indiana, McCutcheon graduated from Purdue University in 1889. After graduation, McCutcheon got a job as a cartoonist for the Chicago Morning News (later the News-Record; Chicago Record; Record-Herald). Norman Charles Meier was born February 22, 1893 in Carrollton, Missouri. He earned his Ph.B. and M.A., both at the University of Chicago in 1921 and 1922. He took his Ph.D. at the University of Iowa in 1926. He joined the University of Iowa Department of Psychology in 1922 as an assistant. The Redpath Lyceum Bureau was founded by James C. Redpath in 1868 as a commercial lecture bureau. In 1901, Keith Vawter purchased a one-third interest in the bureau, and in 1904 launched the first Chautauqua circuit. "Ding" Darling (1876-1962) spent the majority of his career working as an editorial cartoonist for the Des Moines Register.
