John Tinney McCutcheon (1870-1949) was a newspaper cartoonist and war correspondent. Born in Lafayette, Indiana, McCutcheon graduated from Purdue University in 1889. After graduation, McCutcheon got a job as a cartoonist for the Chicago Morning News (later the News-Record; Chicago Record; Record-Herald). Norman Charles Meier was born February 22, 1893 in Carrollton, Missouri. He earned his Ph.B. and M.A., both at the University of Chicago in 1921 and 1922. He took his Ph.D. at the University of Iowa in 1926. He joined the University of Iowa Department of Psychology in 1922 as an assistant. Mr. Meier was promoted to instructor, then associate, became assistant professor in 1927, then associate professor, and was made full professor in 1954. He retired in 1964. Norman C. The Redpath Lyceum Bureau was founded by James C. Redpath in 1868 as a commercial lecture bureau. In 1901, Keith Vawter purchased a one-third interest in the bureau, and in 1904 launched the first Chautauqua circuit. The Redpath Lyceum Bureau had offices in a number of locations including Cedar Rapids, Iowa; White Plains,New York; Columbus, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois, and; Kansas City, Missouri. Journalist and tireless advocate for preservation of the environment, Jay N. "Ding" Darling (1876-1962) spent the majority of his career working as an editorial cartoonist for the Des Moines Register.
