James L. Riedy research collection on Chicago sculpture, 1970-1977.

Research materials compiled by James L. Riedy for his book Chicago Sculpture, published in 1981 by the University of Illinois Press. Included are newspaper clippings, research notes, correspondence, artist statements, and other printed materials. A majority of the research notes are on sculptures found in Chicago and are organized by location. The research notes also include English translations of German and Swedish publications and materials related to the archives of the Chicago Park District, and American and European art archives. Also present is a sound recording of Harry Bertoia's "Sounding Sculpture" on an LP record.
