Chicago Theater Restoration Associates records, 1980-1994.

Correspondence, research notes, copies of historical documents, legal and financial records, contracts, and public relations materials of the Chicago Theater Restoration Associates, a group of investors who saved the Chicago Theater and the adjoining Page Brothers Building from demolition in the early 1980s, renovated the buildings in 1985-86, and managed them until 1994.Includes document submitted to the Commission on Chicago Historical and Architectural Landmarks ca. 1980-88; documents certifying the theater as a landmark; and documents connected with establishment of the new Chicago Theater Center, primarily through an Urban Development Action Grant second mortgage.

The Commission on Chicago Historical and Architectural Landmarks (later the Commission on Chicago Landmarks) was established in 1968 by City of Chicago ordinance. Its nine members are appointed by the Mayor.
