Apologizing for having come across as "foolish & snobbish" in his previous letter and emphasizing that he simply did not consider himself justified in contacting Swinburne without her authority; agreeing with her that "congruity in the views taken throughout the book" is of great importance; indicating that his brother William will look over the manuscript and proof sheets along with her letter; appending a post-script asking her to contact William regarding which parts to revise on the sheet returned by Haines.
