Alma Petersen papers, 1903-1986.

Correspondence, research files, photographs, and other papers of Alma C. Schmidt Petersen and her husband William Petersen, a professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Most of the collection are records from medical and social service organizations in which Alma Petersen participated, often as treasurer or as member of the board of trustees. Materials include correspondence, clippings, financial records, meeting minutes, pamphlets, and notes. Petersen was involved in organizations such as the Central Service for the Chronically Ill, Chicago Chamber Music Society, Chicago Council of Social Agencies, the Hull House Association, the American Aid for German Medical Science organization, the Lake Geneva Fresh Air Association, Chicago branch of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, and the Children's Service League. The collection also includes calendars, travel journals, and a biography of William Petersen.
