Miscellaneous items related to George Dewey, an admiral in the U.S. Navy. Materials include invitations, bills, receipts, a French-English pocket dictionary, unused Western Union telegraph forms, and menus from events (1907-1913). Also present are a souvenir program of the "Reception Tendered the United States Battleship Fleet at Amoy [China]" (1908); calling cards; postcards written to Dewey; two framed statements from the U.S. Navy; notes; a valentine; a map of the Panama Canal designed for use by airplane pilots; and a guest book with signatures from a ball held by Mayor Harrison and the City of Chicago in honor of Dewey.

George Dewey (December 26, 1837 – January 16, 1917) was Admiral of the Navy, the only person in United States history to have attained the rank. He is best known for his victory at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish–American War, with the loss of only a single crewman on the American side. Dewey was born in Montpelier, Vermont.
