Carita Doggett Corse was the director of the Florida Federal Writers' Project from its inception in 1935 until 1942. She was the author of a number of historical publications including "The Key to the Golden Islands" and "Dr. Andrew Turnbull and the New Smyrna Colony of Florida" which was an account of her great-great-great grandfather's role in the founding of that colony.
