Correspondence, accounts, indentures, ships' records for the Hero (bark) and Traveller (brig), newspaper clippings, printed material, and other papers, relating to Cuffe's business and community activities and his project for African American settlement in Sierra Leone, West Africa, to his father, Cuffe Slocum, his brother, John Cuffe, William Rotch, Jr., and the Wainer family. Includes correspondence, notes, and publications (ca. 1812-1963) of James B. Congdon and other biographers of Cuffe.
