Papers chiefly of Sir William Pepperrell, merchant, of Kittery and York County, Me., and other family members, including correspondence, bills, receipts, accounts of sale of cargo, wages, and trade conditions, invoices, and other papers; together with some town business records of Kittery and York, Me. Also includes account (1736-1740) of Pepperrell with William Limbrey, London, partner for insurance, unloading, and shipping cargo; record of sale (1743 Apr.) of sundry merchandise from brigantine Andrew & Elizabeth, Robert Oram, commander; record (1743 Nov. 12) of wages paid by Pepperrell to Richard Ingerson for brig Kittery; letter (1748 Aug. 17) from Samuel Stanton in London to Wm. Pepperrell in Kittery explaining that with peace approaching, his plans to settle in Barcelona under the firm name Greene & Stanton, describing business in Barcelona; request (1750 Feb. 21) of William Dearing, and others in Kittery requesting that wages for selectmen be placed on the town warrant; letter (1750? Dec. 25) from Capt. William Moore, Cadiz, Spain, to Wm. Pepperrell in Kittery describing a poor market for the fish and staves in his cargo; and notice from selectmen issued to Capt. Samuel Fernald (1818 Dec. 21), York County, Kittery, Me., to summon residents to a meeting concerning the repair of the school house in the 7th district and his reply that residents have been notified (1819 Jan.).
