Bulk of the collection consists of two volumes of minutes. The first volume (1909-1916) contains only minutes of meetings. The second volume (1918-1959), contains minutes of meetings, correspondence, signed proxies, membership lists, ownership lists, etc. There are separate minutes for the few meetings held between 1965 and 1974.

The Magnolia Beach Improvement Association was incorporated in 1909 by residents of Magnolia Beach, Vashon Island, King County, Wash. The articles of incorporation listed eight purposes for the association, including regulation of two docks on the beach and beach cleanup.
