Autograph letter, signed, from Charles Gayarré to Secretary of the Navy Mahlon Dickerson, dated Philadelphia, April 8, 1835. Gayarré states that he is enclosing two letters requesting naval appointments for two different men, which he had intended to deliver personally but had been unable to do.

Mahlon Dickerson (April 17, 1770 - October 5, 1853) was an American judge and politician. He was elected Governor of New Jersey as well as United States Senator from that state.
