Edward G. Uihlein reminiscences, 1917.

Autobiographical manuscript in German by Uihlein, who was an officer of the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company beginning in the 1870s and a Chicago resident after 1867. The reminiscences describe Uihlein's birthplace in Germany, his youth there, his relocation to America in 1864, and his early years in business as a brewery bookkeeper and as a manufacturer and wholesaler of metal wagon parts, with a brief summation of the rest of his career, which included service on the West Side Park Commission, Chicago. Also present are a typed English translation of the entire document (40 p.), ten clipped articles on the Uihlein property at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin (1978; 14 p.), and a photocopy (29 p.) of the book "The Hotel 'Zur Krone' in Wertheim," which describes the ancestral home of the Uihleins.
