Albert Monson correspondence, 1862.

ALsS addressed to Monson, East Gloucester, Mass., written by J. P. Knowlton (1862 February 12) and Seth Handy (undated) while aboard the ship Mercury of New Bedford, Mass., Edward F. Lakeman, master, on a voyage to the Indian Ocean (1859-1862). Knowlton noted the amount of oil taken and advised against taking a whaling voyage. Handy described life aboard a whaleship.
