John Parris Sheahan papers, 1862-1865.

Letters, diaries, journals, and other Civil War papers consisting primarily of letters to his parents containing vivid descriptions of his military experiences and views on the war; also included are his commission and discharge papers, as well as carefully executed sketches of the battle lines at Petersburg, and of the cell-block of the Confederate military prison at Columbia, S.C., where he was prisoner of war.
