James C. Ayers interview, 1984 June 18.

Ayers recalls events and activities of his two summers (1947-1948) as a smokejumper, including a plane crash and fire on Stuart Peak, a fire in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area, dating the nurses at St. Patrick's Hospital, and spending the night at the mouth of a grizzly's cave. Includes references to the Aerial Fire Depot in Missoula.
