Waltham, Mass., geology/geography group includes published and unpublished papers about the topic and books and pamphlets describing Waltham, Watertown, and Middlesex County geology and Waltham's flora, including scrapbook of pressed sea-plants prepared by Dr. J. Gilman for his sister Esther C. Fogg; notebook kept by George E. Morris listing his fungi painted for New York Botanical Society; and published list of his prints housed in Peabody Essex Museum. Agricultural materials include materials of Middlesex County Farm Bureau and records of Waltham Agricultural and Industrial Fair of 1882. Waterways group includes general books and booklets about Waltham's brooks, bridges, ponds, and other waterways; studies of the Charles River, Chester Brook, Hobbs Brook, and Hardy Pond, focusing on water quality and recreational activities; books and photos of the Charles River; and materials on local ponds and reservoirs.

George Edward Morris was born in England, February 25, 1853, and died at Waltham, Massachusetts on July 5, 1916. Mr. Morris was interested in all phases of natural science. He became especially interested in botany through his art work and the use of plants as a basis for design.
