Legal actions--assignments of power of attorney, 1864.

In this series of assignments of power of attorney, soldiers volunteering for service in the Union Army in April 1864 exchanged power of attorney over their local financial affairs for immediate cash payments, the assigned power of attorney then allowing those taking legal control of the soldiers' affairs to collect monies owed from the City of Manchester.
