Papers related to the estate of Virginia C. Pearsall (1840-1884), of Mount Olive, N.C., widow of L.G. Pearsall (1843-1883) and guardian of their children, Frank L., James O., Cora L. (d. 1888), Annie M., and Gideon Pearsall, including the inventory of her estate, bills submitted against the estate, burial and gravestone expenses including burial expenses of Cora L. Pearsall; bills for clothing, medical expenses, supplies, and education of the Pearsall children, and a lease (1883) of Pearsall's Hotel in Mount Olive executed between L.G. Pearsall and Virginia C. Chestnutt. Also includes items concerning the Bell family of Sampson County, N.C., including papers relating to the estate of Robert R. Bell (1893), administrator of the the estate of Virginia C. Pearsall, the estate of his father, James Bell of Sampson County (1871), and the estate of William B. King of Sampson County (1869); together with deeds and related land papers for Darden, Marley, and Byrd lands in Sampson County, and other papers.

Bell, Robert R. (Robert Roy), 1945-

Robert Bell was born in Ireland of Scottish ancestry. He came to New York in 1847. His sons ran R. W. Bell & Co. and Bell Brothers of Buffalo, N.Y. Robert's farm, Pear Valley" had 1500 trees and 46 varieties of fruits. He won many awards for farm produce and animals. He was one of the founders of the United Presbyterian Church.
