Diary recording the movements of Robertson's regiment on its march from Caroline County, Va., to Gettysburg, Pa., where Robertson was wounded, and its march to the Rappahonnock River and winter quarters at Liberty Mills, Va., and noting routine and unusual occurrences, distances marched, and places of encampment; together with a chronological listing of letters Robertson had written from Jan. 3 through Nov. 12, 1863, and letters he received between Jan. 20 and Nov. 1863. Includes an entry for Sept. 19, 1863, recording the execution of two Wilkes County, N.C., privates, Esom Fugit and Allen Absher, of Company D, 33rd Regiment, North Carolina Troops, for desertion. Other topics include the battles of Brandy Station and Bristoe Station, Va., and Gettysburg, Pa.
