Chiefly correspondence (some letters with envelopes), poems, songs, greeting cards, circulars, and other papers, of members of the Shaker community at Canterbury, N.H. Also includes letters from Henry C. Blinn (1861) and Betsy J. Kaime (1864) to Otis Sawyer, SDL, reflecting daily events, the health of community members, vegetarian diets, and Kaime's safe journey home; description of the Canterbury Shaker village (1874) copied from The Statistics and Gazetteer of New Hampshire, compiled by Alonzo J. Fogg; letter (1874 Oct. 11) from Mary L. Miller to Joseph Brackett, SDL, recalling visits to Maine and describing a meeting of Shakers in Franklin, N.H., held for the "World's People"; verses and complimentary cards from Mary Whitcher to Henry Green, Alfred; and letter (1875 Sept. 19) from Alexander Cochran to Green, relating to sales trips, visiting tourists, the holding of local meetings to explain Shakerism, a visit from Henry Cummings of Enfield, N.H., and the report of James Hartley in England promoting the Shakers to the British. Also includes letters (1901-1903) from Chellis Wing, Julia J. Briggs, Mary Ann Wilson, Lucy A. Shepard, and Sarah F. Wilson to Br. Delmer Wilson, SDL, relating to new agricultural machinery at Canterbury, building repairs, grain prices, gardening, visits to SDL, the weather, etc.; plan (1903) of Canterbury Shaker village drawn by Delmer Wilson, showing 34 buildings; journal excerpt (1903) prepared by Jessie Evans, detailing the revision and reprinting of the Canterbury Shaker Music Book; Christmas letters from or to Miriam Wall, Emma King, Edith Green, and Alice M. Howland; and several letters, chiefly on daily affairs written to Mildred Barker, Alfred, by various Canterbury sisters, including Lillian Phelps, Annie Baker, and Jessie Evans.
