Also includes letter (1843 Dec. 7) from Thomas Corbett, Canterbury, to Calvin Thurlow, Alfred, ordering red roses and discussing discounts and other plants; letter (1844 May 5) from the Canterbury Ministry to that in Alfred regarding current affairs, the health of members, and visits between the two communities; letter (1849 Jan. 11) from the Canterbury Ministry concerning legislation in New Hampshire concerning the Shakers, "stirred up by Mary Marshall [Dyer] and other apostates" and the accompanying persecuting and prying into the lifestyle and rules of the Shakers; and letter (1849 Nov. 20) from the Canterbury Ministry to Joseph Brackett, Alfred, pertaining to changes at the community at Mount Lebanon, N.Y.
