Materials relating to the ordnance plant in Ravenna, Ohio, built by Hunkin-Conkey Construction Co., in 1940 which was operated for the U.S. Army by the Atlas Powder Co., during World War II until 1952 when the government operations were transferred to Ravenna Arsenal, Inc. (also known as Ravenna Ammunitions Plant, Inc.), a subsidiary of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, which continued operations until the 1970s when the plant was closed (a great supplier of ammunition during the war, parts of the plant were closed afterwards and some facilities used by Silas Mason Co., to produce nitrate fertilizer).
