Clarence Hamilton Poe (1881 - 1964) became the editor of The Progressive Farmer in 1899 and formed the Progressive Farmer Company in 1903. He served as both president and editor of the company from 1903 until 1953, and retired as president in 1954. He then became the chairman of the board of directors and senior editor.
