Pettus-Wallace family papers, 1836-1977.

Correspondence, financial documents, printed material, research papers, church records, photographs, and artifacts, relating to the Pettus and Wallace families of Goliad, Tex. Church records relate to the Presbyterian Church and particularly Goliad Presbyterian Church. Research materials relate to a variety of topics, including the Goliad Massacre of 1836, as well as area residents, events, and historic buildings. Photographs date from the late 19th century and include photos of the Goliad courthouse and historic homes, members of the Pettus, Wallace, and Reed families and their friends and neighbors, and some photographs of well known individuals, including Gov. Pat Neff during a visit to Harlingen and Eleanor Roosevelt speaking to WPA workers in Goliad. Persons represented include James Edward Pettus (1855-1942), his wife, Anna Harper Reed Pettus (1860-1936), their daughter, Jessie Pettus Wallace (1885-1978), and Suella Boyd Starr.
