Chiefly correspondence, deeds, survey, indenture, and other papers, reflecting the history of the community, with a focus on industry during the early years which changed to finances and membership during the later years. Also includes letters (1864 July) from Joseph A. Gilman, Poland to Otis Sawyer, Alfred, relating Poland Hill news, including the move of John and Betsy Kaime to Canterbury, N.H., and the community indebtedness caused by Isaiah Wentworth; diary (1871) of Joseph Gilman; list (1841 July 11) of Alfred Shakers; and extract (1887 June) from the Church journal listing members who moved from Poland Hill to Sabbathday Lake.
