Mrs. John B. Flannagan letter to Mr. Hyslop about letters of John B. Flannagan, 1942 April 7.

Flannagan's second wife, Margherita, writes to Hyslop, 7 April 1942, asking for some letters of her late husband to be returned so she can make copies of them, and then return them; Flannagan and Hyslop corresponded in 1939-1940 about a projected Lion Shrine at Penn State. Noted at the bottom that the letters were not returned. Includes original envelope.

Sculptor John Bernard Flannagan was born in North Dakota; after his father's death, he and his brothers were placed in an orphanage for five years while his mother trained as a nurse. The separation, coupled with the death of a younger brother, caused Flannagan to cut ties with his family and move to New York to become an artist.
