Copy of a typed letter to Spencer Gordon, 29 November 1913 regarding a misunderstanding with regard to an allowance for navy quarters. Mahan received quarters allowance from October 31, 1908 to June 7, 1912. He cannot remember if he had an allowance for quarters in 1906. A handwritten note and signature appear at the bottom of the letter.

Alfred T. Mahan, naval officer, was born in 1840. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1859. He served as second president of the Naval War College, 1885-1886 and again in 1892-1893.
