Envelope, September 8, 1938.

Envelope commemorating the 2nd anniversary of the commissioning of the Porter, sent to an unidentified Newport woman at 20 Anthony St., Newport, RI by G. Haase, Mare Island Navy Yard, CA, postmarked September 8, 1938. Embossed in silver letters is the name of the ship, its date of commissioning, August 27, 1936, the name of the ship building company, and the two Porters, Commodore David Porter and Admiral David Dixon Porter. Superimposed on the outline of the ship is a photograph, 1.5" x 1", of the Porter. Envelope is torn and the stamp, post mark and name of recipient are missing.
