Letter to Jack, May 21, 1867 regarding Mayo's governorship of Alvarado, Mexico during the Mexican War. Includes his discussion of a case of infidelity, a meeting with Mexican commissioners and their subsequent surrender, an attack on the flotilla on their return, casualties incurred and the quality of American naval officers.
